Shoulder Pain Pump Leaves Lasting Damage
Recent studies have linked pain pumps used after arthroscopic surgery to the deterioration of shoulder joint cartilage.
Intra-articular pain pumps deliver painkillers directly into the shoulder through a catheter after surgery. A study published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine uncovered evidence that use of pain pumps could be responsible for the debilitating condition known as postarthroscopic glenohumeral chondrolysis (PAGCL).
Another study, presented at the February annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, identified 66 patients who developed chondrolysis following shoulder surgery that was associated with intra-articular pain pumps.
The symptoms of PAGCL include shoulder pain and stiffness, popping or grinding when the shoulder is moved, a decrease in the range of motion and loss of joint strength. Treatment often involves additional surgeries. Unfortunately, many patients never regain full use of their shoulder joint.
If your life has been disrupted by a pain pump injury, you deserve compensation. The lawyers of Williams Love O'Leary & Powers PC represent individuals nationwide who received a pain pump and now suffer from PAGCL.
From young athletes to construction workers, we help pain pump injury victims take action and help remove dangerous products from the market. For more information, fill out our online contact form or call 866-930-2497.
